For many race fan enthusiasts the question “How can I get into racing?” has at least popped in your head once or twice. For those of you that have actually looked into it probably went into “sticker shock”. If you are geographically blessed you might live within a decent traveling distance of a local track where you can get some seat time or instruction. You might be able to attend a school that teaches you the importance of car control. There might also be local autocross events where you can put your skills to the test.
Lower priced endurance racing has blossomed over the years. One example is the 24 Hours of LeMons. I had heard of this race before but had never had a chance to make it to one until recently. Talk about a blast! It is creativity at its BEST!
If you have a car you can enter with a $500 investment (purchase and prep) and a creative application about your crew, you can spend a weekend at one of these events. You definitely want to have some car knowledge. Who knows, you might have to do a engine swap in the middle of the night!
